Introduction
I don't recommend that anyone draw like I do, but I've been given direction by many more talented artists than myself, so there might be something of value in here. This walks through how I would draw a single character pin up, without doing anything crazy with perspective or backgrounds.
Tools
I used to draw on bristol board, which is usually around 100 lb. weight, so it's very thick. I liked it because of the smoothness of the paper, but it's not cheap; I would typically pay around $6 for 20 sheets. Now I use plain cardstock, which was available in reams of 300 sheets for about $20 the last time I bought some, and it holds ink reasonably well. I do all pencil work with a mechanical pencil with .7mm lead. Sharpening and breaking regular pencils gets old. For inks, I use a variety of technical pens. Staedtlers and Zigs work reasonably in my experience. A lot of people like to use brushes for inking, but that sounds too much like work to me. If I need to fill in a large area with black, I resort to a Sharpie.
